The
Memphis Zoo is a zoo located in Memphis, Tennessee. It is home to more than
3,500 animals representing over 500 different species. The Zoo was founded
in 1906 and resides on 70 acres in the middle of Overton Park.
The Memphis Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The zoo hosts state-of-the art exhibits that mimic the animals' natural habitats, such as Once Upon A Farm, Cat Country, Primate Canyon, Dragon's Lair, Animals of the Night, The Northwest Passage and CHINA. The last one is home to 2 giant pandas. |

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American history, in collaboration with Memphis Rock 'n' Soul, Inc., presents the exhibition "Rock 'n' Soul: Social Crossroads" in the new Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum which is located at the Gibson Guitar Factory in Memphis, Tenn. The 8,000-square-foot exhibition examines the rich musical heritage of the Memphis area - from the 1930s blues and country sounds to the soul tunes of the 1960s and 1970s - and the stories of the artists, producers and disc jockeys who were at the heart of it all.
